#10 NaPoWriMo, Our Town…

Hello my lovely friends. Today’s challenge was to write a book spine poem. Now if you just raised an eyebrow and wondered what that is… you are totally not alone! Just a few short hours ago I did the same thing!!! A book spine poem, is a poem comprised of the titles of books. It’s a very lovely idea!!! Enjoy!

Our Town

Our Town.
The Bronze Bow.
The Chosen.
The Invisible Heart.
A Separate Peace.
Our Town.

(I would have just provide a picture for this poem but… my books spines are not photogenic! 😉 )

Our Town by Thornton Wilder. Is a lovely play about our everyday lives. It’s eye opening, funny, and my favorite plays ever! “Live people don’t understand, do they?” ~Emily Webb

The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare. A delightful adventure, a coming of age story. War, tears, sacrifice. Will there ever be peace again? What of this new prophet Jesus, the son of God..? “We vowed to live and die for God’s victory. There is more than one way of fighting.” ~ Leah

The Chosen by Chaim Potok. A story of an unlikely friendship, war, heartache. Two boys. A baseball game. And a wise father. “My Father had told me he didn’t mind their beliefs. What annoyed him was their fanatic sense of righteousness, their absolute certainty that they and they alone had God’s ear, and every other Jew was wrong, totally wrong, a sinner, a hypocrite, an apikoros, and doomed, therefore, to burn in hell.” ~ Reuven

A Separate Peace by John Knowles. It all started that first day of summer school with a friendship, a tree and the anticipation of enlistment but someone has a secret… “That night I made for the first time the kind of journey which later became the monotonous routine of my life.” ~Gene

The Invisible Heart by Russell Roberts. An economics teacher, an english teacher, a factory worker and a government official… what do they all have in common? “That dispersion of power prevents corruption unless everyone is corrupt. And if everyone is corrupt, you have a society that no system can tame. But in a system where power is concentrated at the top, the temptation for corruption at the top is almost unavoidable. I love that no one’s in control.” ~ Sam

I hope you are having a beautiful day. Keep smiling, awesome sauce! [=
