about my life…

Hello my lovely friends. I’m sorry I fail to post much but I don’t have as much free time as I used too. Today I present a poem about my life. Enjoy!!!

about my life

it’s time to write a little poem
about my crazy life
one day I’m going to miss this
maybe when I’m a wife

there’s bubble wrap and boxs
on my piano seat
there’s mountains of laundry
sitting at my feet

there’s makeup and hair ties
all over the bathroom sink
But I’m doing as fine
As you seem to think

I haven’t got much sleep
since last week
my hair and brows have
been on fleek

I didn’t realize models
were so tall
the photo shoot was bomb
I braved the mall

I haven’t got one Christmas
gift, as of yet
Oooooh that’s a pretty
makeup set!

I haven’t made a penny
All week
I should be singing
As we speak

I’m just so busy with
church and school
keeping those grades up
dang, I’m so cool!

this is Christmas
this year
then we drive right
into a new year

I hope you all have been having a wonderful holiday season.

Allie ❤

“Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese.”
― G.K. Chesterton

I found today’s quote awhile back. It really got me thinking about what poets write about and why. I hope you found this cheesy thought as funny as I did. 😉

#25 NaPoWri, The Road I’ve Taken…

Hello my lovely friends. Today’s challenge is to write a poem beginning with a line from another poem. If you haven’t already guessed by the title, I took my inspiration from Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken. Enjoy!!!

The Road I’ve Taken

“I took the one less traveled by”
I began walking with a little sigh,
Looking straight up the mountain side
From this climb I wanted to hide.

The comments of others pulled me down
Their words come like waves to drown
My quiet spirit encouraging myself in the Lord
Taking the shield of Faith with trusted Sword.

I looked not to the left nor to the right
I only looked to the greatest light.
He has always been my H O P E,
My vision is like a kaleidoscope.

The path I travel is my mission,
It is my goal, purpose and V I S I O N
To encourage the broken, to love the hated
To speak for the muted and stand with the berated.

This is my road, my path, my trail.
It’s something I shall not fail.
Everyday I shall move F O R W A R D
Baby step or leap, I’m moving onward.

I hope you are having an amazing day. Thank for stopping by. Keep smiling, gorgeous. Your smile is the best!!! ❤

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost (1874-1963)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Too roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A poet's dinner

Hello again, today I have a poem and a recipe for Mexican rice! I hope you enjoy and find some inspiration here.

The Poet’s Dinner

A poet sits at dinner
He isn’t eating much.
He is busy watching others
Who he saw at lunch.
He is thinking of their stories.
Wondering where they’ll go.
Hoping they didn’t see him staring so.
He starts to eat not tasting a thing.
He is too busy thinking to hear the ring.
I watch his shocked expression
As a young lady walks in.
She comes to his table
He doesn’t say a word,
I kinda wonder if he’s able.
Her shirt says “Beautiful nerd”.
She has a sweet smile,
He has a serious brow.
They both start talking now.
I watch them share his fries,
And then they say their goodbyes.
They leave happier for meeting.
I look around for better seating.
Until someone else comes along,
And my inspiration is strong.

Mexican Rice

Allie’s Mexican Rice

4 cups of rice
8-10 cups of water
16oz can of tomatoes
8oz of salsa
1/2 cup of Jalapeno (don’t add if you want a mild rice)
1 chopped onion
1 Tbl of chili powder
1/2 tbl of black pepper
3 Tbl of paprika
1 Tbl garlic

Mix all ingredients into a large pot, put on high heat until boils then turn down to low until rice is soft about 30 minutes. Serve with tacos, soups and salads.

I hope you are all enjoying your Tuesday evening! Let me know if you try the recipe. ^_^ Have a wonderful night. I’ll be back tomorrow with a new post!
