#4 NaPoWriMo, January…

Hello my lovely friends. Today’s challenge was to write about the cruelest month. I was inspired by New England’s winters. Enjoy!!!

January

You freeze my heart
And make everything cease from growing.
You never melt my heart
Like your brother spring.
Or make my heart sing
Like your sister summer,
And her sunbeams!

No! You are the ugly,
Stone hearted cousin of winter.
That cruel stone hearted lady.
You have no mercy, only death.
You call for the death of my fingers and toes.
You call for the death of my bright redden nose.
January you’re not joyful fun in the snow
But you are death
And never warm.

January I hate
Speaking your name.
I do not understand
Your fame.
You are beyond cruel.
Your heart is made of snow,
And your core of ice.
You dump all of your
Frozen soul,
Out on New England.
Your sun is deceitful.
So terribly fooling.

You have a wintery
Heart of frozen stone.
Numb.
Your whispering voice
Is like your brother
Fall’s.
But your voice is
Never as bright.
Then out of the blue
You show your true
Colors.
Grays, whites, navy blues.
Darkness and authority
Held in your grasp.
You bring a blizzard
or Two…
Or maybe just a “prefect storm”
You bring the pressure of
Growth and being new.
But you kill our hopes
That’s what you do!
Making us feel anything
but renewed.
January your heart is cruel.
Your stone cold heart,
is very cruel.
You are by far the cruelest month of all!
